Samsung Eyes On The Road

Adstars – Finalist(Campaign, Mobile, PR)

– Insight –
Singapore is ranked top in smartphone usage. Everyone is using a smartphone, everywhere, all the time. Even when they are driving. We can’t stop people from using their smartphones but we can help instill safer mobile habits.

– Idea –
We created a mobile app that helps stop the instinct to reach for the phone while driving. Once activated when motion is detected, all mobile distractions are temporarily blocked until the driver reaches his destination.

– App –
Using sensor fusion technology and GSM cell towers, Eyes on the Road blocks calls and SMSes and silences social media alerts once motion is detected at above 20km/hr. Auto-generated messages inform the caller that the user is driving. The app is deactivated after 10 minutes of idleness, or done so manually. Drivers who unlock achievements are rewarded with fuel and insurance premiums vouchers. Achievements are shared on Facebook.

My role

1. We started the project doing an ad for Samsung as to bring awareness in road safety. This is how the 2 of the mocks came around.

2. We asked ourselves, how can we not just encourage people, but  change the behaviour of drivers to not text and drive. We listed the possible motivations that could distract the drivers from focusing on driving, and then brainstormed for various ideas to bring safety for drivers in Singapore.

3. Pitch in the idea to the clients, make changes accordingly after receiving feedback

4. Created the wireframes and interface of the app

5. Liaised directly with the developers to make sure that our app can work and can execute on time

6. Tested it ourselves, iterated, before launching it in the app store

7. The application is then translated to the different use platforms such as online, social media and also outdoor medias
